This Is The Whole Product, From The Field

Not a screenshot of a dashboard. This is what your foreman actually sees on the phone already in his pocket.

    You add the worker once
Name and mobile number in BuildCenter. That is the entire setup for that person. Nothing gets installed on their phone.
  • 2
They text the way they already talk
"Here" to clock in. "Taking lunch" for a break. "Done for the day" to clock out. No keyword list, no menus, and it understands Spanish.
  • 3
Hours land in the office instantly
Every entry hits the same timesheets, job costing, and cost codes as the app. Payroll does not care how the hours arrived.

Anyone who wants the app still gets it
Text and app run side by side on the same crew. Your guys pick. You stop refereeing it.
No commands to memorize
There is no keyword list. Workers text the way they already talk, in English or Spanish, and BuildCenter works out what they meant.
Here On site Llegué Taking lunch Almuerzo Back Done for the day Heading out What's my schedule this week? Am I working tomorrow?

Most Time Tracking Dies On The Job Site

Not because the software is bad. Because the rollout asks a 25 year veteran to put a company app on his personal phone, and he says no.

"I'm not putting that on my phone"
Personal device, personal data, and a boss who can see it. That objection ends the conversation. Texting has none of it, because there is nothing to install.
Half the crew can't install it anyway
Storage full, no data plan, a phone too old for the current OS, or no smartphone at all. Texting works on every one of those phones.
Nothing to train, nothing to reset
No accounts, no passwords, no forgotten logins on a Monday morning. A new hire is productive on day one because he already knows how to text.

Already been through a rollout that died? Here is what to do when the crew won't use the app.

How Crews Actually Get On The Clock

Every no-app workaround in this category puts the burden somewhere. Texting is the only one that puts it nowhere.

Method What the worker needs Where it breaks
Text message Any phone that can text Nothing to install or remember
Mobile app A smartphone, storage, a login The crew refuses, or cannot install it
Shared tablet kiosk To be standing at the tablet One device, one location, a line at 7am
Foreman clocks in the crew Someone else to do it for him One person's memory becomes your payroll record
Call-in phone line To hold, listen, and enter a PIN Slow, and useless in jobsite noise
Paper timesheet A pen and a truck dashboard Collected Friday, guessed at, illegible

Questions Owners Actually Ask

Does the worker need a smartphone?
No. If the phone can send and receive a text message, it can clock in. That includes flip phones and phones with no data plan.
Does it cost the worker anything?
Standard message rates from their carrier, the same as any text they send. There is no app, no subscription, and no data usage on their end.
Can we still use the app for some people?
Yes. Text and app run at the same time on the same crew, feeding the same timesheets. Office staff and foremen often use the app while the field texts.
Does it track my crew's location?
Not over text. A text message carries no location, so a worker who clocks in by text is not tracked, and you can tell your crew that plainly. GPS on clock in and clock out is available in the optional app, and it is a setting you turn on or leave off. It is never running in the background all day either way.
Does it work in Spanish?
Yes. BuildCenter supports English and Spanish, including through the text flow.
What if someone texts the wrong thing?
There is no wrong thing to text. BuildCenter reads plain language, so "here", "on site", "clocking in" and "arrived" all do the same job. If a message genuinely cannot be read, the worker gets a short reply telling them what to do, and every entry stays visible in the office to correct before payroll.
Do we need a contract?
No. BuildCenter is $20 per user per month, billed monthly, with no contract and no setup fee. Cancel any time.

Text It Yourself Before You Decide
